The preparations for Emma's big move from the city to the suburb continues.
The preparations for our big move from the city to the suburb continues, now it is only seven days until we get the keys to our new home! So far I feel pretty relaxed, I have followed the Fortum checklist and have very much appreciated the email reminders. Earlier this week I found a place that sold used moving boxes, and also got some old ones from my parents. I got two new ones that are like small wardrobes for all delicate garments that prefers hanging to be folded. I think about the banana boxes from the local supermarket that I packed my stuff in when I moved the first time and think that I’ve come a long way.
Since we bought the house I’ve made a habit of saving everything that can be used for packing. Bubblewrap, old newspapers and small boxes. I think this is all going to be of great use when packing the kitchen stuff, and we won’t have to buy wrapping papper.
Taking the advice from the Fortum checklist, I have started packing up all our storage areas. The attic, the wardrobes and our supply closet, things that you don’t use on a daily basis. To make the sorting of stuff easier I have created a system – three boxes for recyceling, donating and throwing away. Somehow it makes it a lot easier when I have all the different options in front of me. Read more about how to pack up your home in a smart way here!
I have also gotten some use of my different colored tapes, tapes that I bought when scrapbooking was big. These colors will show where all the boxes will go once we are at the house. The boxes that I have marked “VIP” are to be packed last and unpacked first.
I have also booked a cleaning company for the apartment that uses environmentally friendly cleaning products. These once in the picture are for the new house, and I will make sure that they are in one for the VIP boxes that are to be packed up the first day. This week I have also gotten boxes for all our important papers to make sure that they are all in one place. This is something I wish I would have done already when moved from my parents’ house, but you live and you learn. From now on, all important papers go in one of these boxes. It makes me feel calm knowing where everything is, if something urgent would happen.
